scott - March 18, 2008, 11:10 pm,
actually the Bible says the earth is round...didn't read that part, huh? wasn't it the educated scholars of the day that said it was flat? oh yeah, they were all part of that Roman rubbish, but then again they didn't write the Bible. 2 Peter 1:21
Sean - April 10, 2008, 4:38 pm,
2 Ptere 1:21 "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." Yep, it says that.
Sean - April 10, 2008, 6:09 pm,
Sorry, that's Peter. Dyslexia of the fingers, today. Bye.
Renee - April 10, 2008, 6:22 pm,
Too bad he's right. Great poster.
Sean - April 10, 2008, 7:52 pm,
Who's right? If it's the Bible guy (scott), then let's have the right passage, please. 2 Peter 1:21 seems to have been a random choice.
Jesse - April 25, 2008, 1:14 pm,
I don't know where the Bible says the Earth is round, but it certainly doesn't say it's flat. And Lots of people knew it was round for many years prior to Columbus.

It also says the sun goes around the earth, Ecc 1:5. "The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose." The Sun doesn't hasten anywhere, the Earth spins. As far as thinking them thinking the earth was flat, Isaiah 40:

cont... Isaiah 40:22. "It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth" A circle is flat, the earth is a sphere, not flat. So, yes, the people who wrote the bible did believe the earth was flat and that it was a geocentric universe.
Sean - April 29, 2008, 2:00 pm,
Well done, bucket. And what do you think of scott's citation of 2 Peter 1:21 (Mar 12)? A random selection, perhaps?
Marlowann - May 27, 2008, 4:31 pm,
A circle is only flat in geometrical terms. Also, it's a common notion that the sun moves as well as the earth. On top of all of this, what happens according to your eyes? No, not according to scientists and telescopes, but according to the n**** eye, t
Marlowann - May 27, 2008, 4:33 pm,
Sorry for being cut off. The earth appears to be flat according to your immediate senses, so when you consider that people back then didn't have technology, the wrong idea here didn't seem wrong.
Marlowann - May 27, 2008, 4:34 pm,
Also, as far as I'm concerned, neither Jesus nor God say "the earth is flat" anywhere in the bible.
V_Vu - June 8, 2008, 6:02 am,
Okay, a circle being flat 'only in geometry' is kind of like saying it's only bright when Light is present! As far as Perception of the time being proven wrong Later...
V_Vu - June 8, 2008, 6:03 am,
Well, That is kind of the POINT of the allusion. They "knew" the world was Flat. The "Knew" the will of God. Know we "Know" the world is Round.. What else do we "Know" that may yet change ...?
V_Vu - June 8, 2008, 6:04 am,
And a Note: If you are going to Reference something by line and verse, Make sure you are Right. Internet-people have such an a*** retentive attention to details as to be obnoxious by nature... Whether they Mean to or not... V_V

Sean: I'm pretty sure scott figured nobody would know he was making **** up, and he probably thought nobody would check. Good catch, too. - July 14, 2008, 1:20 pm,
I should like to examine this claim and two passages from Scripture on which it is based, using a sample of creationist literature. First, Eastman's article states: Despite contrary a**ertions, the fact of a spherical earth was clearly proclaimed in

Despite contrary a**ertions, the fact of a spherical earth was clearly proclaimed in the Bible by the prophet Isaiah nearly twenty-eight centuries ago ... "It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers [etc.]"
Pitch - July 21, 2008, 4:42 am,
They had a word for Shpere and still used the word circle indicating a flat Earth.
RnR - July 21, 2008, 5:59 am,
a lot gets lost in translation, the "old" Babylonian view, etc People knew it wasn't flat even before the old testament was written
RnR - July 21, 2008, 6:17 am,
Anyway, i prefer the world being a disc, carried on the back of 4 elephants standing on the back of a giant turtle...
Hector - May 7, 2009, 2:30 pm,
RnR - After that? I've heard it's turtles all the way down.
