If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

People who help others in their time of need will themselves get helped in their own time of need. For example, Willie Nelson was such a nice guy to his family and friends that they all showed up at the IRS auction, bought everything and gave it all back

Excellent poster WTFO
Sean - August 14, 2011, 6:11 pm,
Of course you can always ask your Jesus this question.
WTFO - August 15, 2011, 1:27 am,
Cloud, that's deep. Thanks, rerun. Sean, in case you forgot, I'm agnostic. However, I do remember the bible saying something to the effect that God helps those who help themselves.
Sean - August 15, 2011, 4:40 pm,
So you're saying the Bible urges this dude to help himself to your stuff, instead of begging for it? That's some complicated theology in that there good book.
Airman - August 15, 2011, 5:46 pm,
what do you expect when Locusts are involved. they complicate things
Sean - August 15, 2011, 5:48 pm,
Stooooopid locusts. Always complicating things. Good point, Airman. Hope all is well with you -- locusts permitting, of course.
Sean - August 16, 2011, 4:39 pm,
Agnostics ... sheesh. Pick a lane!
WTFO - August 18, 2011, 12:46 am,
Why would I pick a lane? From here I can poke holes in either theory without bias. Besides, it's completely arrogant for someone to claim they know the "truth" about something that is beyond the comprehension of humans (goes for athiests too).
Sean - August 18, 2011, 10:33 am,
I can't say that I know, or even know of any atheists who claim to know that God doesn't exist. With me it's a belief that He/She/It/Them doesn't/don't. Nor have I read such a claim in anything by Dawkins, Hitchins, Dennett or Harris. As for believers,
Sean - August 18, 2011, 10:34 am,
I am willing to bet that most of them are pretty humble in their belief, willing to acknowledge that their "faith" is more hope than a claim as to what they know to be true.
Sean - August 18, 2011, 10:36 am,
Sorry, mistake there, it should read "With me it's a belief that ... probably doesn't/don't" Left out the most important word in the whole darn sentence. Sobriety sucks.
Sean - August 18, 2011, 10:37 am,
Now if I put that probability of non-existence too high, I am, as alleged, being arrogant. But I don't, so I'm not.
Feasibly - August 18, 2011, 10:43 am,
Well 5aid WTFO...excellent poster too!
Airman - August 18, 2011, 12:32 pm,
but but... you have no one to thank on Fridays!
Feasibly - August 18, 2011, 1:40 pm,
Good point Airman! I see it as one of those "darn if you do, darn if you don't" kind of things...kinda like helping others.
Sean - August 18, 2011, 3:43 pm,
I just thank Claude. Sure it confuses the hell outta him, but most things do.
Feasibly - August 18, 2011, 5:59 pm,
The grace of Claude is a wonderful thing...Claude speed my brotha, Claude speed...
WTFO - August 22, 2011, 5:14 pm,
Claude bless you all.
WTFO - August 22, 2011, 5:16 pm,
Wasn't pointing the finger specifically at you, Sean. You can find the kind of people I'm talking about on this site by their religion attacking posters.
Sean - August 22, 2011, 8:49 pm,
And peas be with you.
Sean - August 22, 2011, 8:51 pm,
Oh hey, I took no offence, but as a narcissist I take offence at NOT being singled out. Sheesh.
WTFO - August 23, 2011, 5:36 pm,
Well then, to feed your narcisism...I'm deeply disappointed that you can be an atheist but not have the testicular fortitude to stand up and defend your strong convictions and deep belief yea, NOTHING! Better?
Sean - August 23, 2011, 9:34 pm,
Much better. Thanks. And Claude is NOT nothing, dammit! Sure he's easily confused, and there are the hygienne issues, but he's a good egg.
R.S.Jake - August 15, 2011, 11:30 am,
I once asked God for a new car, then I remembered that God doesn't work like that...So I stole a new car and asked God for forgivenes5. I know, old joke, but it's funny! BTW, great poster!
Sean - August 15, 2011, 4:37 pm,
And also an old motifake, only the Christian thief stole a bicycle, if memory serves.
WTFO - August 16, 2011, 2:22 am,
Religious theology is too much for me. However, I like the joke (regardless of how old it is). Amn, watch out because after the locusts comes the darkness and the death of the 1st borns. Just saying.
Verdeckt - August 24, 2011, 2:05 am,
