We had them on Kittyhawk in 65. They’d come back full of holes, but they still flew. They were one tough birds.

Yeah, they were tough as nails, can't tell you how many times these bada*s birds saved my uncle.
Weren't they the US's last propeller driven combat aircraft.

Not the factory, Josh, the carrier CVA-63. She flew sorties daily. 9 months - 37 aircraft lost. Sky raiders (A-1Hs) would come back full of holes. The jets didn’t come back if they got nailed. We carried F4Bs, A6As, RA5Cs, A3Bs & A4Cs.
