or maybe this has more to do with "political greed" than religion...
oh shuddup - January 5, 2009, 11:06 am,
i think that was the "oh **** wtf is happening i just pissed my pants" moment (2nd plane) ... i loled =P
Sir - May 2, 2009, 3:27 pm,
9-11 wasn't religious intolerance, it was just a bunch of pissed off Muslims
Canuck - May 2, 2009, 3:48 pm,
Religion has been the excuse for violence since time began. My god's better than your God! I think it's time to ban organized religion and put our faith in our fellow man.
WTFO - May 2, 2009, 6:00 pm,
I would say religion in and of itself is okay and actually a good thing. It's when "our fellow men" get involved with religion and twist it to thier views that everything goes to hell.
Canuck - May 2, 2009, 7:31 pm,
um... to them WE are "our fellow men". Not many organized religions can say they have caused no bloodshed in the name of their god. Buddhists maybe, but certainly not Christians. Science offers proven answers to questions we used to need god to explain.
WTFO - May 3, 2009, 1:29 am,
Islamic extremist don't see us as their "fellow men" we are dogs and infidels they feel need exterminating. Christians' hands aren't clean, but most of it is well back in history versus today. Islam is still driving for blood. I believe that neither
WTFO - May 3, 2009, 1:30 am,
science nor religion provides the 100% answer. I'm agnostic, which is a fancy word for "I don't know". Maybe I'll see complete proof from one side or another someday.
agdaniele - May 3, 2009, 1:35 am,
Agnostic is the only logical view. Humble and realistic.
WTFO - May 3, 2009, 1:52 am,
Thank you. That's a good way of looking at it. I've always considered myself too stupid to know the truth, but I like your definition better.
thatonechick - May 3, 2009, 1:52 am,
Agreed, agdaniele! I cannot pretend to know until I get there...
WTFO - May 3, 2009, 1:54 am,
If I die and God is there, I hope he truly is a forgiving guy. If not, I'm screwed. I'm sure my views will change as I get old (older in my case). Even if you don't believe, when you get old maybe you should go to church just in case.
thatonechick - May 3, 2009, 1:55 am,
If what I have been taught in church is true, paying lip-service near the end will not save you. I had better have a revelation sometime before I die.
agdaniele - May 3, 2009, 1:59 am,
I look at it this way... if there is a supreme being, he made me, and knows the built-in flaws. If he's anything like what the earth-bound idiots (of any religion) represent, I'll take hell.
thatonechick - May 3, 2009, 2:01 am,
Good point, there! And at least the road trip to hell will be fun.
WTFO - May 3, 2009, 2:02 am,
I'll pass on hell, but I agree that it's people that have screwed up religion throughout history. The Bible is a great example for me. As the word of God, how can so many groups take the same book and cherry pick the pieces they follow while ignoring
agdaniele - May 3, 2009, 2:02 am,
I refuse to subscribe to a religion that preaches death or hell to non-believers, nor will I get on board with a religion that lets in p********s, murderers, etc as long as they confess or give their lives to jesus.
WTFO - May 3, 2009, 2:03 am,
other parts that don't suit their desires. Too many sub-religions have come from the same book. Human corruption definitely messes up an otherwise good thing.
WTFO - May 3, 2009, 2:04 am,
Amen, AD! While we're running for office, you wanna start up a new religion too?
agdaniele - May 3, 2009, 2:04 am,
If they get into a higher place, I'm sure that I, even with my trunkful of "sins", will have no problem.
agdaniele - May 3, 2009, 2:06 am,
I say we be fair about it. Let's get all religions together and let each explain why their religion is different from the ones they all call "myhtology" now.
thatonechick - May 3, 2009, 2:07 am,
If you do that, you will get the same unsubstantiated answers from each sect.
agdaniele - May 3, 2009, 2:09 am,
And don't get me started on how much art, culture, medical advances, science and historical writings that religion is responsible for destroying. Information, art and science lost forever... in the name of god.
agdaniele - May 3, 2009, 2:10 am,
Don't I know it, toc.
agdaniele - May 3, 2009, 2:10 am,
An explanation for everything, but an answer for none.
Sean - May 3, 2009, 2:11 am,
I refuse to believe in any God who needs me to believe in Him. Who needs such a needy god, anyway? Thor. Zeus. Those dudes were pretty self sufficient, and I like that is a deity. Most becoming. But hell, I'll just worship my cats. they're closer.
WTFO - May 3, 2009, 2:11 am,
It's getting late. AD, my future VP, we'll talk at ya later, bud. thatone(moderate)chick good talking with you too. Take care.
WTFO - May 3, 2009, 2:13 am,
Didn't know you were still around, Sean. Take care, my NORAD friend.
agdaniele - May 3, 2009, 2:13 am,
Always a pleasure, WTFO. Thanks.
Sean - May 3, 2009, 2:13 am,
And none of them have silly names.
agdaniele - May 3, 2009, 2:14 am,
Sean, I couldn't put it any better. And the cats, as it turns out, answer your prayers as often as any other diety.
Sean - May 3, 2009, 2:19 am,
Take it easy WTFO. Gotta go pick my nose behind the ... oh what was it? The Orange Julius? *snickers*
Sean - May 3, 2009, 2:20 am,
And some of them even come when I call their names. Yes they do.
agdaniele - May 3, 2009, 2:21 am,
Cats: 2 Jesus: 0
Canuck - May 3, 2009, 2:22 am,
Ok i will bite ... what are your cats names sean
Sean - May 3, 2009, 2:26 am,
Can't say. Anyone in my vicinity would be able to tell that the Sean they suspect me to be is indeed their Sean. That could get awkward. And to know me is to know I have cats and they don't have stupid names like Captain Majestic or Sparkles.
Canuck - May 3, 2009, 2:27 am,
I a**umed you would have pre-determined screen names for them. my bad
Sean - May 3, 2009, 2:29 am,
Next time you a**ume, can you not just make an a** outta me?
Canuck - May 3, 2009, 2:31 am,
sorry brisco. that joke is so bad i think it was on that show
WTFO - May 3, 2009, 9:25 pm,
Sean, the Orange Julius comment almost made me piss myself. Thanks for the laugh.
