This poster was initially in response to the "stimulus" bill but it's valid once again. This time the $1 Trillion dollars is their rosy estimate for the socialized health care. This man doesn't spend small amounts of our taxes, does he?
agdaniele - June 27, 2009, 7:58 pm,
It's gotta happen... the healthcare industry needs to be spanked down. All facets of medical indusry overcharge. This is like a trickle-down theory. You know this is all temporary... give it a chance. Saves regulation later... a stitch in time.

The first priority to bring down health costs is to institute Tort reform to limit these over-reaching lawsuits. In DC, malpractice insurance runs $125K a year. That cost is passed on to the patients. A single provider health-insurance offered by the govt

for free will make most businesses drop the insurance for their employees as a cost-saving measure, it will lead to longer wait times with the influx of new patients, and rationing of health care. I speak from some experience since I recieve govt health

insurance right now, TriCare. (Most of us call it Tri-to-get-Care). Other servicemembers feel free to add your issues/concerns with TriCare. The second layer effect of a free govt health insurance is that the system will be overloaded by those who realize

there is no reason to pay for insurance when Uncle Sam is giving it away free. The best example of the real-world effects of this pie-in-the-sky dream came from the President's home state of Hawaii with their Universal Child Health Care program that was

I agree in disallowing the bloated medical lawsuits. On the same note, medical care costs are ridiculous... and the cost of care needs to be dropped. Now, I won't get started on the countless insured morons who show up at Quick Care for a flu. Ridiculous.

Hey, WTFO, some people actually NEED this insurance for free because they don't have parents, and to make you happy I'll let you know how much they get from this insurance is decreasing GREATLY. congratulations, I hope you're happy.
agdaniele - June 27, 2009, 8:32 pm,
But in theory... and I do hope it works... if the insurance companies must charge less (therefore, spend less) the hospitals and doctors will need to drop prices. It's a tough sell, I agree. But, people are too abusive of health insurance now.

Touche' Porc.
WTFO - June 27, 2009, 8:33 pm,
I agree with you completely, agd. But you have to institute changes one at a time to ensure each change has a positive effect. Tort reform first, then go after the scams between the doctors and insurance companies. Doctors pad their costs because the

insurance companies drop their payouts.
WTFO - June 27, 2009, 8:36 pm,
Porc, you make the same point as I was. Your services are decreasing because the govt bean counters are more concerned with their bottom line than your health. That is what happens when the govt gives you an entitlement. For you, I hope that you land a

job that offers health insurance. (as friendly advice, it's better to go to the interview with your natural hair color and then shift back after your hired, not intended to be an insult just a fact in the interview process).

I concede, WTFO. He's under the gun for promising change, and is biting off too much at once. Excellent point.
WTFO - June 27, 2009, 8:41 pm,
agd, my wife has a degree in medical billing and admin. The insurance companies do everything they can to scam the doctors out of money. So, the doctors jack their prices up to offset the losses they face from greed insurers. TriCare pays about 1/3 of

the doctors charge, by way of example.
WTFO - June 27, 2009, 8:42 pm,
Well said, agd. But I wasn't looking for a concession, just healthy debate. You're absolutely right though. This White House and Congress are throwing all kinds of **** at the wall hoping something will stick.
agdaniele - June 27, 2009, 8:44 pm,
I certainly don't think that insurance companies are hurting. They victimized themselves by teaching peeople to go to the doctor everytime they have a tummy ache. Now, it's not profitable business. The price of medical treatment is too high, still.
WTFO - June 28, 2009, 6:39 pm,
According to what my wife learned from her classes, insurance companies pay half or less of what is billed (the doctors respond by raising their prices), also insurance companies have been know to have a policy that their workers process one claim and
WTFO - June 28, 2009, 6:40 pm,
throw the next claim into the trash can in there initial claims stack of work. This 50% payout results in delayed payments to doctors for services and often doctors don't resubmit the paperwork so the greedy insurance companies keep the money. Insurance

companies are still out for profit and some of them will lie cheat and steal to make sure they keep the ledger in the black. One other tactic I've seen used with the military's TriCare is that they claim the doctors filled out the paperwork incorrectly,
WTFO - June 28, 2009, 6:43 pm,
which results in delayed payment and again some claims aren't resubmitted. The medical community is screwed up all around. From the insurance agencies, to doctors, to govt MediCare/Caid and TriCare. If we socialize medicine like the POTUS and Congress
WTFO - June 28, 2009, 6:45 pm,
want, all hospitals across the country will be run like Army hospitals. If you don't truly understand what that means, google Walter Reed Army Hospital problems and see what you get.
