With no religion, the "twin towers" would be home to serial baby rapists, murdering drunken thieves, and homo***ual ra** gangs.

Thank GOD the church keeps them within their walls!

How about we imagine no religion that advocates violence?
firefly - May 30, 2009, 4:00 am,
remember that almost all religion advocates peace yet fails to deliver. With religion comes extremism. Holy crusades = bloody bigotted rampage through europe. Islam is an easy target. No atheist or fence sitting agnostic has started any wars.
Lena - August 18, 2009, 8:50 pm,
The hypo-christians are the nastiest people you can come in contact with. Was hitler a christian? Did he honestly believe genocide made god happy? haha
Ed-Hyde - August 25, 2009, 4:22 pm,
I beg to differ. Everyone always forgets Genghis Kahn. Took over most of the known world. The closest thing he had to religion was mysticism. People also tend to forget that most 'Genocides' have been between Tribes of people.
Ed-Hyde - August 25, 2009, 4:24 pm,
Tribes in this case meaning same basic group, no religious issues involved. See Darfur, See Albania, See Turkey. See also Balkins.
Ed-Hyde - August 25, 2009, 4:26 pm,
See America for that case. The wholesale slaughter of american indians had nothing to do with religion and everything to do with, 'I WANT!'. [Close Rant Here]

Oh, and Aggy, LMAO @ your comment. I lolled all over myself and liked it.

Religion is fine in and of itself. It's the Extremists in each religion that make things difficult. The problem, however, is that there will always be radicals in ALL beliefs, including atheism and agnosticism
Sean - September 7, 2009, 12:27 am,
As an atheist I'd like to point out that without the so-called Judeo-Christian ethic and worlview there wouldn't be the Twin Towers in the first place nor would the Western World look anything like what it does. This is not a defence of religion, just...

a challenge to the cherrypickers of all pursuations.

Monogamy in and of itself, which is a pillar of that worldview is probably one of the most inportant (and personally despised, I might add) notions that gave rise to Western Civilization.
Sean - September 7, 2009, 12:30 am,
By "persoanlly" I meant ... by me.
TheTrashHeap - September 7, 2009, 2:00 am,
Fundamentalist agnostics? How can you be an undecided extremist?
Sean - September 7, 2009, 2:03 am,
Be kinda like being a bi***ual nymphomaniac. Yeah, let's go with that.
TheTrashHeap - September 7, 2009, 3:04 pm,
Extreme ambivalence? Warring wishy-washy's? Geez pick a side people! You either believe in the flying spaghetti monster or you burn in hell.
Guest091 - September 8, 2009, 7:02 am,
Imagining no religion will be hard for most people, since eventually in one slight opinion they'll find something to believe in, regardless of what it is. A basic way of keeping some faith.
ILB - September 9, 2009, 4:16 am,
I dont have faith in faith, I dont believe in beliefs. You can call me Faithless, you can call me Faithless. But I still cling to hope, and I believe in love, and thats faith enought for me. And thats faith enough for me.
Guest091 - September 13, 2009, 9:00 am,
Fair enough. Hope is always there for those who need it.
Bah - November 13, 2009, 11:03 am,
Well said Sean. Like all wars, this is an economic one. The west has money and power, and they don't like that one bit. If it wasn't muslims vs. "heathens", it'd be arabs vs. europeans, or shirts vs. skins. People always find reasons to fight.
Sean - November 13, 2009, 4:12 pm,
Thanks Bah, but I think my "bi***ual mymphomnaniac" comment was better said. *snickers*
