yeah imagine that. a book that teaches human beings to be good to each other.

Surprise, surprise, again Retrochop is the opposite of right. It's not Jesus or his teachings they're against, it's the majority of the so-called "Christians" who are hell-bent on ignoring everything Jesus supposedly said, in favor of the Old Testament.

And re-read the New Testament. Jesus didn't say one d@mn thing about homo***uality in it, only Timothy talks directly about it at all, and the author actually met Jesus himself, being one of PAUL'S disciples, not Jesus'.

and the author NEVER actually met Jesus himself, being one of PAUL'S disciples, not Jesus'. (brain ranting faster than my hands can type!)

none of the gospel writers ever met jesus. the gospels were written 40 years after his death. Pauls gospel only even mentions the last few major events of jesus's life. Zed try researching Mithra, attis, horus, krishna, dionysus, hercules, or many others
TheTrashHeap - August 25, 2009, 4:51 am,
who pre-date jesus. the similarities are astounding. Jesus was allegorical, the bible says so more than once.
Zed - August 25, 2009, 10:43 am,
Oh, I have, but around here, you bring any of that up and Retro, Paul, and the others start sneering "Zeitgiest" as if that's some sort of logical refutation of the point you're making.

Actually all my info is from my own study of christianity. Zeitgeist is a little inflammatory, and history books and the bible serve the same purpose. One documentary worth taking a look at is "the god who wasn't there". Very straightforward and concise.

You are entitled to your opinion and since they are the ones who believe in hocus pocus you should not worry about their comments. The reason so many people are scared of part 1 of zeitgeist is that it makes the facts so clear. Humanity needs to grow up.

Hebrews 8:4 If Jesus had been on earth, he would not even have been a priest.

My grandmother was a "holy roller" Pentecostal, so I had to learn as much as I could about the bible, the verses, and the actual real-world history about it just in order to win an argument with her.
TheTrashHeap - August 25, 2009, 11:17 am,
The first christians knew that jesus was an allegorical figure. (or parable if you will) How did that info get lost?
Zed - August 25, 2009, 11:18 am,
The true irony being, the more you learn about the "holy bible" the less faith in it one tends to have.
Zed - August 25, 2009, 11:20 am,
Heh. Basically, it's due to their insistence that the Bible is TRUTH, and therefore is supposedly a factual historical document, or so the argument goes.
