Tips on making a good Motivational

Postby ZacHoney » Wed Mar 31, 2010 1:51 am

I've made 3 they were all rejected One was a tunnel (I'm new too the whole thing had no idea tunnels are a no no)
One was awesome and one had already been done (apparently, looked for it but couldn't find one)

They are on my computer though (saved them anyway)

So, Any pointers or suggestions to get me and many like me on the way?

I am definitely not the best. I sometimes get good ideas, and I run with it. The calendar sometimes gives me an idea.
Don't be motivational.
Demotivational, or simply humorous.

The biggest no-no's are going to be (aside from obvious things like racism and boobies and tunnels):
1) Jokes that nobody but you and maybe three other people in the whole world get
2) Obscure anime references. You might get an anime one by IF and ONLY if it stands on it's own, and you don't have to watch the anime to get it (I watch anime, I might laugh my ass off, but still reject it.)
3) If your poster uses any of these words in their most overused and annoying sense: Gay Test, Jailbait, FAIL, 'Nuff Said... and any mention of bricks being shat, I will kill you (any or all of you).
4) Lookit what I found on the internet! Facebook screenshots are not funny.
5) If your picture has text in it, repeating that text (or echoing it, or kinda saying the same thing) will guarantee rejection.

Hey, guys... add to my list.
God, I have edited this post a lot.

Repeats also suck...especially if the pic was used recently.

Otherwise TOC summed it up pretty well.

It's a good idea to check the most recent ones too. I had 2 rejected because I didn't realise they had recently been used.

Oh! Okay, after staring at my Motifakes (because Moo+ made me self conscious), I realized that the ones of mine that I like the best are drawn from my life and/or personal experience.

K.I.S.S.
Keep it simple stupid...

Don't over think anything, some of the funniest posters I've seen are short and to the point...

to reiterate #3 in TOC's list above, don't add smileys to the poster... i.e. ;) XD 0.o etc. In comments, OK; in a poster, stupid.

Keep trying and you'll find your niche. It's best for you to have your own muse to shine. Don't try to follow anyone else's thing.

use the search feature for your tags and title BEFORE you submit it.
then search the word that best describes the pic.
with over 70,000 posters, you'd be surprised at what's already been done.

is there a thread where i can question a rejection? i'm German and it's hard to get the reason by reading a few words with some English expressions or abbreviations (i.e. nsfw) only. Also it would be helpful to know who rejected the pic to contact the aprover directly for further informations.

And i don't get 'skin-factor'. I posted the pic below and it was rejected because of the font-color (too dark to read). I posted it again with brighter color and it was rejected because of 'too much skin'...

would someone explain it, please?!?

I haven't been on this thread since it was made (didn't expect a reply) so you better sharpen your axe because my first Demotivational involves bricks being shat

That is actually what would be acceptable. If it's making fun of those memes, it at least has potential to be funny.
Do note the low rating it has, however.
