Just before making a vote, I take into account that the user put in, at least, a little effort to make it & thought well of it when actually making it, thus nothing ever truly deserves a 1L in my eyes...

Those, however, which are a significant exception to this rule & is, for lack of a better word, bullshit don't even deserve a vote, from the way I see it...

And about your voting procedure, I'm afraid to tell you that this way of thinking is what causes the sheer amount of s*** posters.
If a s*** poster gets some lions just for effort, he'll make more s*** posters.
Back in the day, even the regs got bad votes, and that's a good thing, even if he is your friend, doesn't matter, he put a lot of work into it, doesn't matter either, all that maters is the end product, judge that without looking at who posted it.
That, just pure judging of poster value, is what leads to quality improvement, how can they improve if the judge won't let 'em know they're wrong ?

I abstain from voting on certain posters... but that's only because I am biased against certain posters (read 'quotifakes') that wind me up... Everything else gets a fair vote without scrolling down to the poster maker... I can guess a lot of poster makers though!
