I think it would be cool to have a DEATH ROW for genuinely/offensively crappy posters. It would give us a chance to do more than just b**** about truly awful posters. And while I would love to be appointed one and only the Grim Reaper of Motifake, we would soon be down to under 10,000 posters before I wandered off into traffic during a bout of dementia brought on by sleep deprivation. So here's the idea:

Any poster that has more than a certain number of votes (say 10 or 20), and is rated lower than 1.5, or even 2, goes on DEATH ROW. DEATH ROW would of course show up under REPORTS.

Underneath the “prisoner poster” would be a scale of sorts. On the left would be an icon of say a thumb up. On the far right side, an icon with a thumb down. You click on one or the other to cast your vote. Between the two icons are five spaces. Each vote causes either a rightside up or an upside down lion to appear. Once there are five MORE downvotes than there are upvotes, the poster is deleted. (So if, for example, fourteen or fifteen people vote on the fate of a poster, but they are more or less evenly divided, the lions will just keep flipping but the poster will stay alive and in general circulation. And of course, until five votes are cast, there won’t even be a line-up of five lions yet. But the moment the downs outnumber the ups by 5, the lever is pulled and the streetlights flicker.)

A poster can also earn a reprieve if it is voted on in the regular manner in a way that takes it above, say 2, in the regular manner. That would take it off DEATH ROW, until such time as its rating dropped again.
And each person only gets to vote once on the fate of a poster, etc.

This is not censorship. This is a private site. Censorship is goverment restriction of free speach. This is a way for each of us to have some righteous fun cutting the crap from this site. And it is democratic ... well sorta.

You may be bogged down by details, Claire. What are you confused about?

The upside-down lions, and the general process. I understand the concept, though. I would probably to see it just have to see it visually. Sounds like a good idea.

Cant lose posters. People link to them all over the internet and it would cause broken image links everywhere, pissing everyone off at motifake.com.

Can implement filters and stuff like that though. But ive got a lot of other work in my queue right now.
Need to finish some stuff and then create a new site :) Ive got some interesting ideas in the queue... but their secret
