That might be technically true, but it’s not been my experience. Maybe the pain is still there, but I no longer feel it.

A part of your frontal cortex lights up when you're in pain in order to cause the sense of revulsion that makes you want the pain to stop. Technically, you're designed for pain to hurt no matter how long it lasts.
