Japan actually started it by invading Korea in 1910 and China in the '30s. We antagonized them by not selling them war materials such as steel, not by being politically mean to them. They sh** our scrap metal back at us.
Hawamleh - June 28, 2011, 3:31 pm
We just want our homes man.
monkbiker - June 28, 2011, 8:45 am
We didn't start anything with the muslims. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Barbary_War
Peso - June 28, 2011, 7:08 am
Now that's a first for me. Are you implying that we did something to provoke Japan into attacking Pearl Harbor???
RonE - June 28, 2011, 3:49 am
Not to stir the puddin' or anything but just because we don't start it by physically throwing the first punch doesn't mean the US did not start it. History shows us that we start a lot of this political decisions. Japan in WWII is an excellent example.
WTFO - June 28, 2011, 1:51 am
We don't start it, RL. With the possible exception of Libya.
Reality Lord - June 27, 2011, 7:26 pm

...or have to deal with invading forces :)

Man, I been waitin’ for that answer for darn near three years. Now I can jus settle in an ‘get used to it’…with some pringles….and a gun.
PCV - January 23, 2014, 9:23 pm
And it's not going to change so get used to it.
crankyhead - June 29, 2011, 8:05 pm
Yep, without competition there is no progress, and there is no competition quite like the one between two men shooting rifles at each other. =)
Haarakkon - June 29, 2011, 8:11 am
Let us also remember that in ancient times and particularly in northern climates, it was a seasonal endeavor. Men (and women, too) couldn't be fighting when there were crops to be harvested for the long winter months.
Haarakkon - June 29, 2011, 8:05 am
I should guess this, too, would be relative. While, say, Blackfeet and Nez Perce may have fought isolated skirmishes, they didn't engage in the widespread coordinated attacks that would characterize modern concepts of "war".
Airman - June 28, 2011, 10:52 am
The US Army War college estimates it goes back to 4000 BC. The minute we get Peace in one place, it all goes to hell somewhere else
Airman - June 28, 2011, 10:51 am
good, this got a bit of a discussion going. It came from a statement I saw this weekend on tv, that there had only been 129 days without war in the last 4500 years. I went searching on google to see if that was right, and found that others felt it was 0
tellitlikeitis - June 28, 2011, 6:24 am
And there it is, men, I'm a**uming the commentors are men...are somehow always wrapped up in "war", whatever happened to the saying "peace man"?
forseti - June 28, 2011, 3:31 am
ironically we probably would still live in caves (and wouldn't be able to motifake!) if the human race wouldn't be this aggressive. Most innovations are based directly or at least incidentally on "war technologies"...
house - June 27, 2011, 7:55 pm
yes it did but ther was other wars started just after the end of WWi, then ran into the spanish civil war then ran into WW2....and the rest they say is history
