In the older educational system, where homework was review of the material taught in class, yes, it helped improve retention of information. They don't do that anymore, unfortunately.

Knowledge can retain longer if it is done repetitively. There may be more to homework than the subject the homework is about. You are given a task, as in life and work. if you don't complete it you get a bad grade (in trouble) Nice poster BTW!

Is there any evidence that homework actually has a positive effect worth the effort on how much a child learns? If not, then why do schools keep requiring it and why do kids get punished when they refuse to do it even though it's not worth the effort?
